What is Reiki?
“Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands-on (or auric field) healing technique for use on yourself or others which uses spiritual energy to treat physical ailments without using pressure, manipulation or massage; however, it is much more than a physical therapy. It is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of the person – body, mind, emotions and spirit – and it can also be used to encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth” –

Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki sessions use hands on or hands off healing that support and encourage energy healing work on a physical, mental, spiritual and emotional level. Reiki is not associated with any religion or belief-system. It doesn’t take the place of any other western medicine but works alongside this and other therapies in complement.
The Reiki practitioner does not pass on his or her own personal energy OR indeed absorb their clients’. The Reiki therapist is a channel to allow healing energy through the chakras of the body. This aligns the chakras and releases tension and blockages and in turn this gives the body the freedom to heal itself.

What can I expect from my Reiki session?
Your Reiki session is a very special time just for you and will therefore be tailored to you. It is an opportunity to press pause and ‘return to factory settings’ – to use modern language!
My name is Kate and before your session with me, I will ask you to fill in an online consultation form which helps me cater to your individual needs. During your appointment you will not need to undress, apart from removing your coat and shoes. Please wear something comfortable. There will be time for a chat and any questions before the session begins.
I will then make sure you are comfortable on the Reiki bed with blankets and pillows and support behind your knees if needed. We will do some breathing and relaxation together before your Reiki session begins. During your session I will play soft relaxation music and there will be gentle lighting. I usually use aromatherapy oils in my diffuser or smokeless incense.
Your session is a place to focus on you and only you and to be held in a safe and nurturing space. After your Reiki time I shall gently bring you back to alertness and there is time for a chat and tea. We don’t rush.
